BYU baseball will travel to Tucson for a three-game Big 12 series against Arizona from April 23-25 at Hi Corbett Field, according to an April 22 announcement.
The series is important as both teams look to improve their standings in the conference. BYU currently holds a record of 20-19 overall and is tied for sixth place in the Big 12 with a conference record of 9-9. Arizona enters the matchup with a season record of 15-24 and sits tied for thirteenth place in the conference at 6-12.
All three games will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and can also be heard on the BYU Radio app, BYUradio.org, SiriusXM channel 143, and Utah County’s FM station at 107.9. The Thursday and Friday games are scheduled for 7 p.m. Mountain Time (6 p.m. local), while Saturday’s game will start at 2 p.m. Mountain Time (1 p.m. local).
This meeting marks the thirty-sixth time BYU and Arizona have faced each other on the baseball field, with Arizona leading the all-time series, having won twenty-five out of thirty-five previous matchups. Seventeen of those meetings took place when both teams were members of the Western Athletic Conference between 1963 and 1978.
In their most recent encounters during the previous season, Arizona won two out of three games played in Provo during Big 12 play and defeated BYU again in the quarterfinals of last year’s Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship before advancing through regional tournaments to reach the College Baseball World Series.
After completing this weekend’s series against Arizona, BYU is scheduled to play Grand Canyon University in Phoenix on Monday.
