The Brigham Young University (BYU) women’s gymnastics team concluded its 2026 season ranked No. 22 in the nation, achieving its best record in the Big 12 Conference since joining, according to an April 22 announcement.
The Cougars ended their campaign with an overall record of 11–9 and a conference mark of 4–2. Their performance included victories over four top-25 opponents, notably a road win against No. 14 Clemson to close out the regular season. The team advanced to the NCAA Tempe Regional, finishing third with a score of 196.250.
Fan support was strong throughout the year, as BYU averaged more than 3,000 spectators per home meet at the Marriott Center for a total attendance exceeding 12,000 across four home competitions.
For the first time in program history, BYU earned a spot in the evening session of the Big 12 Gymnastics Championship by finishing among the top four teams in conference standings. In that session against No. 12 Utah, No. 23 Denver and Arizona, BYU placed third with a score of 196.175.
Individual achievements were also highlighted during championship competition: freshman Scarlett Sonnenberg tied for second on floor exercise with a career-high score of 9.950; Deb Silva tied for third on vault at 9.875; and Brynlee Andersen-Broekman tied for fourth on beam at 9.900.
The Cougars recorded their highest team score since 2022—a mark of 197.225—during their victory over Clemson this season, which ties for tenth-best all-time in program history. Season-high scores were also set on vault (49.250), beam (49.550), floor (49.550 against Denver), and bars (49.150 twice).
Three gymnasts received All-Big-12 honors: Andersen-Broekman was named to the Beam Team; Ava Jorgensen made Bars Team; and Sonnenberg was selected for All-Freshman Team recognition.
Seniors Kylie Eaquinto and Alilah Alvarado were honored during senior night following BYU’s home meet against Denver for their contributions to Cougar gymnastics.
