On July 4, President Trump enacted a comprehensive reconciliation bill known as The One Big Beautiful Bill. The legislation contains measures aimed at stabilizing the federal budget, curbing inflation, and addressing Medicaid’s rapid growth. Medicaid-related changes in the law have become a subject of public debate.

Senator John Curtis (R-UT) responded to concerns about these changes, emphasizing that support for vulnerable populations remains intact. “Let’s be clear: no one is gutting the safety net. America remains a generous society. But compassion without accountability risks collapsing the safety net under its own weight. The goal of Congress is not to strip assistance from those in need, but to restore balance and sustainability to programs like Medicaid—so they endure for future generations,” Curtis said.

He acknowledged ongoing public concern regarding Medicaid’s future and encouraged constituents to communicate with his office about their views.

The Senator also noted that additional Utah offices will open soon and advised residents to check his website for updates.
