The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has advised travelers using westbound U.S. Route 6 to prepare for significant travel delays on Sunday, July 6, following the Independence Day celebrations. According to UDOT traffic engineers, the westbound US-6 is expected to experience up to 50 minutes of additional delay between 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m., with peak congestion likely occurring between 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Near Wellington, US-6 will be restricted to one lane in each direction due to work zone safety measures, although construction crews will not be working during the holiday.

Additionally, minor delays are anticipated on several sections of Interstate 15 on July 3. Travelers on southbound I-15 in Salt Lake County can expect up to ten minutes of additional delay from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., while those traveling northbound in the same county may face similar delays between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. In Davis County, northbound I-15 could also see up to ten minutes of extra travel time from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Statewide, most UDOT projects will pause construction activities and open all lanes over the holiday weekend to help minimize traffic disruptions. However, some existing lane restrictions or traffic shifts will remain where necessary for work zone safety.
