The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has announced that southbound Interstate 15 in Davis County will be closed for several hours on the night of Friday, January 9, through early Saturday, January 10. The closure is necessary to allow crews to work on a pedestrian bridge as part of the Shepard Lane Improved project.

According to UDOT, lane closures will begin at 9 p.m. between Park Lane/North Station (Exit 325) in Farmington and Parrish Lane (Exit 319) in Centerville. A full closure of southbound I-15 is scheduled to start at 10:30 p.m., with the highway reopening by 6:30 a.m. All lanes are expected to be open by 7 a.m.

“This work is part of the Shepard Lane Improved project, which is building a new interchange at Shepard Lane in Farmington to reduce congestion and enhance safety. One lane in each direction opened on the new overpass in November 2025.”

The project also aims to improve pedestrian and bicycle connections along Park Lane and upgrade ramps linked with I-15, US-89, and Legacy Parkway (State Route 67).

In addition to this closure, drivers should expect recurring daytime closures on U.S. Route 189 in Provo Canyon for controlled blasting operations. Starting Wednesday, January 7, US-189 will close from Main Canyon Road in Wallsburg to State Route 113 in Charleston every Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m., continuing through February.

UDOT notes that construction schedules may change due to weather conditions. Travelers can get updates by visiting the UDOT Traffic website or using the UDOT Traffic app for iPhone or Android devices.

UDOT works statewide across Utah as a government entity focused on transportation planning and management according to its official website.
