The Utah Department of Transportation has announced a full closure of State Route 201 in Magna this weekend. The closure, which runs from 2 a.m. on Saturday, September 13 to 10 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, will take place between 8400 West and State Route 202. According to the department, Rio Tinto crews will be replacing overhead water pipes that service the Kennecott mine during this period.

In addition to the SR-201 closure, lane restrictions are planned for Interstate 80 in Parleys Canyon for lane striping work. On Saturday, September 13, I-80 between Exits 131 and 134 in lower Parleys Canyon will be reduced to one lane. Eastbound traffic will be limited from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m., while westbound travel will see reductions from 10 p.m. to 9 a.m.

Further lane closures are scheduled for Monday, September 15 on the same section of I-80. Eastbound lanes will be restricted from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m., and westbound lanes from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Travelers should also expect delays throughout Big Cottonwood Canyon on the morning of Saturday, September 13 due to the REVEL marathon event. The event requires use of a pilot car guiding vehicles through both lanes in the canyon.
