How many H-1B petitions made by Utah employers were approved during 2024?

In 2024, 1,543 of the 1,575 H-1B petitions submitted by employers based in Utah were approved, according to data provided by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services via the H-1B Employer Data Hub.

This represents an approval rate of 98%, which is on par with the nationwide average.

In 2024, the average approval rate for H-1B petitions across the U.S. also stood at 98%, slightly higher than the 97.3% recorded in 2023.

The H-1B visa program allows U.S. employers to temporarily hire foreign workers in specialty occupations requiring specialized knowledge and at least a bachelor’s degree or equivalent. The Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services industry led H-1B petition approvals in Utah during 2024, filing a total of 521 petitions (33.1% of all submissions) and receiving 510 approvals, resulting in an approval rate of 97.9%. The Educational Services industry followed, with 365 petitions (23.2% of all submissions), receiving 356 approvals and an approval rate of 97.5%.

The Utah employers with the most approvals during 2024 included University of Utah, filing a total of 175 petitions and receiving 170 approvals, resulting in an approval rate of 97.1%, and Cotiviti, Inc., which filed 103 petitions and received 100 approvals, resulting in an approval rate of 97.1%.

Compared to 2023, Utah saw a 3.3% decrease in the number of H-1B petitions during 2024.
