The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is set to commence a significant renovation project on a crucial segment of I-215 and its surrounding routes in Salt Lake County. The construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 28, at 8 a.m.
The northbound lanes of I-215 between SR-201 and North Temple will be reduced to three lanes to secure the work zone. This lane closure will remain until next year. In early August, both northbound and southbound traffic will be limited to three lanes in each direction as crews work in the median.
The project involves reconstructing three miles of I-215 from SR-201 to North Temple, along with 14 miles of ramps on SR-201, I-80, and California Avenue. Additionally, 22 bridges will undergo rehabilitation to extend the life of this corridor.
UDOT advises drivers that construction schedules are dependent on weather conditions and may change.
