BYU announced on Apr. 17 that Jake Wahlin has signed with the Cougars men’s basketball team for the 2026-27 season, according to head coach Kevin Young.
The addition of Wahlin brings another Utah native to the BYU roster, strengthening the team’s local ties and adding experience from major college basketball conferences.
“We are excited to have Jake sign with us,” Young said. “He knows what it takes to compete at the highest level having played in two of the best conferences in the country. He has the ability to stretch the floor and rebounds the ball at a high level. We’re really excited about his versatility and the way he impacts winning.”
Wahlin transfers to Provo after playing in 88 games during his collegiate career, which includes time at both Utah and Clemson. Over his career, he has recorded 407 points, 326 rebounds, 75 assists, 36 steals, and 35 blocks.
During his most recent season at Clemson (2025-26), Wahlin appeared in 35 games with 29 starts. He averaged 5.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per game while shooting over forty percent from the field and thirty-four percent from three-point range.
Wahlin’s performance included six double-digit scoring games last season, highlighted by a career-high seventeen points against Wake Forest and a ten-rebound effort versus North Alabama.
Earlier in his career at Utah, Wahlin played in fifty-three games over two seasons with twenty-three starts for the Utes. As a sophomore he scored double figures six times—including a double-double against No.17 Kansas—and averaged just over four points per game across both years.
A native of Provo who attended Timpview High School, Wahlin was recognized as First Team All-State as a senior after leading his team to an impressive record.
