The No. 76 ranked BYU women’s golf team will compete in the Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship at the Dallas Athletic Club from April 23 to April 25.
This event is important for BYU as it marks a key postseason opportunity and brings together top teams from the conference. The tournament will feature fourteen schools, with BYU entering as the thirteenth seed based on Scoreboard team rankings.
Last year, BYU finished eighth in this championship, with Kanyanol (Naji) Aramkul achieving the highest individual finish for the team by placing fourteenth. The Cougars approach this year’s competition following their best result of the season—a tie for second place at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic on April 8, where four players finished inside the top twenty.
The lineup representing BYU includes Maria Jose “MJ” Barragan, Aramkul, Lily McCauley, Whitney Banz and Ava Schroeder. Berlin Long will serve as a substitute player. Other participating schools are Baylor, Cincinnati, Texas Tech, Iowa State, Arizona State, Kansas, Houston, TCU, Colorado, Arizona, UCF (University of Central Florida), Oklahoma State and Kansas State. The championship will be played on the Gold Course which measures 6,270 yards.
BYU is scheduled to begin round one at 8:40 a.m. MDT on Monday in Dallas. Live scoring updates will be available through Scoreboard and ESPN+ will broadcast coverage of the final day.
