Drivers in Davis County are being advised to expect significant delays as the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) prepares for a major phase in the I-15 reconstruction project. On Friday, August 1, from 7:30 p.m. until 7 a.m. Saturday, August 2, both directions of I-15 will be reduced to one lane between 200 North in Kaysville and Park Lane in Farmington while crews pour concrete for the deck of the new Shepard Lane bridge.

UDOT has asked drivers to plan ahead and use caution when traveling through this area during construction hours.

The Shepard Lane interchange is designed to help reduce congestion and improve safety for motorists. The project includes several features aimed at increasing travel options for residents, such as a shared-use trail that is ten feet wide, new sidewalks, and a pedestrian bridge.

The interchange will span Union Pacific Railroad and Utah Transit Authority tracks, which is expected to enhance pedestrian and bicycle connectivity along Park Lane and improve access to ramps connecting I-15 with U.S. Route 89 and Legacy Parkway (State Route 67).

Construction on the new interchange is scheduled for completion by late 2026.

“This is a big moment in our work to build the new Shepard Lane interchange,” Senior Communication Manager Mitch Shaw said. “Once complete, it’s going to make a real difference for families and commuters in this thriving part of Davis County.”

UDOT also noted that construction schedules may change due to weather conditions. For updates on traffic conditions or changes to construction timelines, drivers can visit the UDOT Traffic website or download their app for iPhone or Android devices. Updates are also available via UDOT’s social media channels.
