Opposing the impeachment filed against President Donald Trump, Congressman John Curtis (R-UT) with Reps. Chip Roy (R-TX), Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), and Nancy Mace (R-NC) jointly releaseda statement.

Curtis and the three other Republicans asserted that they condemn the Jan. 6 D.C. riot including “the President for the words and actions which contributed to these events.” But are also objecting to the article of impeachment charging Trump with "incitement of insurrection."

"We condemn last week’s actions. But we also must denounce this rushed proposed reaction because we seek to stop the division inherent in our current politics. Now is not the time for political maneuvers that offer no remedy to the problems facing our Republic.  A tree is known by its fruit, and this effort will bear nothing but further conflict and division.

The Republicans called for an action that will no longer result in the division of the United States of America.

In a video posted by Curtis on his Twitter, he stated that he “felt sick to his stomach” with the riots and further said that the impeachment made the matters worse.

"Let's put the country back together," Curtis further said.

“Congress has the constitutional authority to include in the impeachment a disqualification from serving in future offices. However, Congress is not required to include this disqualification,” according to an article from wusa9.com.

Trump might be disqualified from running in 2024 if he gets impeached.
