A federal grand jury in Salt Lake City has indicted an undocumented Mexican national on charges including sex trafficking a minor, production of child pornography, and various drug and firearm offenses. Victor Manuel Sanchez-Chacon, also known as “Speedy,” was detained by a U.S. Magistrate Judge.
Court documents reveal that Sanchez-Chacon allegedly enticed a minor for sexually explicit conduct to produce child sexual abuse material between August 27, 2023, and September 1, 2023. He is also accused of recruiting a minor for commercial sex acts starting October 25, 2023.
Between August and December 2024, the South Valley Special Enforcement Team (SET) investigated narcotics trafficking to juveniles in the Salt Lake Valley area. Sanchez-Chacon was identified as a trafficker during this investigation. On May 15, 2025, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents and SET task force officers conducted a traffic stop on his vehicle. A search revealed drugs and other items. A subsequent residential search led to the seizure of three firearms, ammunition, and body armor.
An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) records check showed that Sanchez-Chacon lacks valid immigration documents.
Charges against him include possession with intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana, unlawful possession of firearms by an alien, possession of firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking crimes, production of child pornography, and sex trafficking of a minor. His initial court appearance is set for July 21 at the Orrin G. Hatch United States District Courthouse in Salt Lake City.
Acting United States Attorney Felice John Viti announced the indictment.
The case involves cooperation among task force officers from SET; Taylorsville City Police Department; Draper City Police Department; Homeland Security Investigations; and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Assistant United States Attorney Carol A. Dain will prosecute the case.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations. It also falls under Project Safe Childhood focused on tackling child sexual exploitation initiated by the Department of Justice in May 2006.
An indictment is merely an allegation; defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt in court.
