The University of Utah men’s lacrosse team achieved the first shutout in its program history with an 18-0 victory against Queens University on April 18 at Ute Field.
This win marks the first time a Division I team has recorded a shutout this season and sets a new standard for the Utah squad, whose previous record for fewest goals allowed was three. The margin of victory is also notable as the second largest in program history, behind only their earlier season win over Iona.
Utah controlled possession throughout the game, outshooting Queens by a wide margin and dominating faceoffs. The defense limited Queens to just six shots on goal and caused 17 turnovers. Goalkeepers Colin Lenskold and Ethan Jaffe combined for six saves to secure the clean sheet.
Ten different players scored for Utah, with Luke McNamara leading with six goals—bringing his season total to 52 and making him the first player in program history to surpass 50 goals in one year. Zachary White contributed seven points through one goal and seven assists, tying for third-most assists in a single game at Utah. Ryan Stines extended his point streak to 47 games.
The team will conclude its regular season on April 25 against Air Force at Ute Field, where they will also hold Senior Day ceremonies honoring graduating players. Admission to the final home game is free.
