A federal grand jury has indicted Hiram Bokadrik, 29, of Salt Lake County, Utah, on multiple firearm charges after he allegedly fired a stolen semi-automatic pistol at two individuals in Salt Lake City. The incident reportedly occurred on June 7, 2025.
Court documents state that officers from the Salt Lake City Police Department responded to a “shots fired” call at approximately 4:18 p.m. They met with two individuals who claimed Bokadrik had fired at them when confronted about trespassing. Officers recovered an expended 9mm casing at the scene and later found Bokadrik hiding in a construction area. A loaded Glock 43X was also discovered nearby.
Further investigation revealed the firearm was stolen during a vehicle burglary earlier that day. Bokadrik is legally prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition under state and federal law.
Bokadrik faces charges of being a restricted person in possession of a stolen firearm and ammunition, as well as possession of a stolen firearm. His initial court appearance is set for June 26, 2025, before a U.S. Magistrate Judge at the Orrin G. Hatch United States District Courthouse in Salt Lake City.
The announcement came from Acting United States Attorney Felice John Viti for the District of Utah. The case is being investigated by an FBI Task Force Officer with the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Robbery and Violent Crimes Unit, with assistance from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Assistant United States Attorney Victoria K. McFarland is prosecuting the case.
This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at addressing illegal immigration and violent crime through coordinated efforts across various task forces.
An indictment serves as an allegation; defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt in court.
