A Utah man has been indicted on drug charges after federal agents reportedly seized over 4,800 grams of cocaine during a search. Evar Mahmood Hashim, 25, from West Jordan, was charged following an investigation by the Davis County Metro Narcotics Strike Force into a suspected drug trafficking organization in Utah.
Court documents indicate that the investigation began in May 2025 and identified a vehicle allegedly used for narcotics trafficking. On June 10, 2025, agents executed a search warrant on this vehicle in Juab County with Hashim as the driver. During the search, they found approximately 4,836 grams of a substance that tested positive for cocaine. Hashim was subsequently taken into custody.
Hashim faces charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. His initial court appearance is set for June 26, 2025, at the Orrin G. Hatch United States District Courthouse in Salt Lake City.
The announcement came from Acting United States Attorney Felice John Viti for the District of Utah. The investigation is being conducted by the Davis County Metro Narcotics Strike Force alongside the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Special Assistant United States Attorney Kelsy Young is handling prosecution duties.
This case falls under Operation Take Back America, a Department of Justice initiative targeting illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations while aiming to protect communities from violent crime perpetrators.
It should be noted that an indictment is merely an allegation; all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
