The University of Utah softball team announced on Apr. 22 that it will host the BYU Cougars for a three-game series at Dumke Family Softball Stadium in Salt Lake City, starting Thursday. The games are scheduled for April 23, 24, and 25, each beginning at 5 p.m., and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

This home stretch marks the final two weeks of the regular season for Utah and offers fans several promotional events. Supporters are encouraged to wear red throughout the weekend as part of a Red Out initiative. Saturday’s game features Bark in the Park Day, allowing dogs on the outfield berm with free treats available, followed by a postgame autograph session with players.

Recent performances have highlighted key contributors such as Payton Crank, who batted .500 last week with two home runs and eight runs batted in (RBIs), earning her Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors. Pitchers Anna Reimers and Raci Miranda combined efforts against Baylor to secure an 8-2 win, while Hailey Maestretti continues her strong presence in the circle with her eleventh complete game this season.

BYU enters the series after notable wins over Houston, Utah Tech, Iowa State, and Weber State. Their offense has produced a total of 76 runs over their last eight games. Lily Owens and Ilove’a Brittingham lead their team with ten home runs each during this stretch.

Statistically, Utah leads or ranks near the top in several categories within both conference and national standings. The Utes’ pitching staff has delivered fourteen shutouts this year—tied for most in the Big 12—and maintains an earned run average (ERA) ranked third in conference play. Individual standouts include Mia Gomez setting a new program record for consecutive games reaching base safely (36), Kennedy Proctor’s power hitting streaks including three straight games with home runs earlier this season, and Shelbee Jones’ no-hitter against Abilene Christian on March 11.

Looking ahead to postseason play, these matchups serve as crucial preparation for both teams while offering fans opportunities to engage directly with players through themed events.
