Utah Tech will compete for its first conference title at the 2026 and final Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Golf Championships, according to an April 18 announcement. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is scheduled for Monday through Wednesday at The Clubs of Stonebridge Ranch Hills Course in McKinney, Texas.
The Trailblazers’ lineup includes senior Jane Olson, juniors Mia Cesarek and Samantha Phelan, sophomore Maria Purroy Galan, and redshirt freshman Gabrielle Roznicki. Senior Jenna Anderson will travel as the first alternate.
This year marks a significant transition for Utah Tech athletics. The university announced on June 25 that it accepted an invitation to join the Big Sky Conference beginning July 1, 2026. Starting with the 2026-27 season, most of Utah Tech’s sports programs—including women’s golf—will move to compete under the Big Sky banner.
Head coach Lindsey Orth is leading the team into her tenth season at Utah Tech. Last season marked their fifth year competing in NCAA Division I play and included four top-five finishes across nine events. Highlights included a tie for second place at the Utah Valley Wigwam Preview in February and a seventh-place finish at last year’s WAC Championships. Orth previously worked as assistant golf professional at Sand Hollow Golf Resort and served as an LPGA assistant teaching professional for St. George city before joining Utah Tech.
Junior Samantha Phelan was named WAC Player of the Week this past Thursday after her performance at last week’s Montana State Bobcat Desert Classic. She finished tied for runner-up honors individually while helping Utah Tech secure third place as a team. Her runner-up showing was her best collegiate finish so far.
Looking ahead, the winner of this week’s WAC Championship will earn an automatic bid to participate in the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Regionals scheduled from May 11-13.
