Almost every basement in Utah contains radon gas, and homes in Davis County are no exception. To help spread awareness for Radon Awareness Month, and to encourage residents to test their homes for free, our team at Utah Radon Services has compiled the percentage of homes we have tested in Davis County that have high levels of radon.
Radon is an odorless, tasteless, invisible gas, and exposure to it is the second-leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. While no exposure to radon is healthy, the World Health Organization recommends a mitigation system for any home that tests at 2.7 picocuries per liter (pCi/L) or higher to prevent lung-related health issues.
31% of homes tested in Davis County contain radon at 2.7 pCi/L or higher.
